Executive Mosaic is honored to announce Mary Ann Hopkins, Parsons Government Services president, as the newest inductee into the Washington 100, the premier group of leaders who execute strategic vision and drive value for the American public at the intersection of the public and private sectors.
“My advantage is that I have been with Parsons my whole career,” Hopkins told ExecutiveBiz about her ability to adapt to changing circumstances and taking on new responsibilities within the firm.
“I’m surrounded by an A-plus team at Parsons in our divisions, in our operations support functions and in business development. That makes getting up to speed so much easier.”
“From a long-term perspective, our goals are balanced growth – and when I say balanced growth, I mean a combination of organic growth and growth through acquisition. And in the area of acquisitions, we are continuing to focus on sectors that are priorities for the U.S. Federal Government in Defense, Security and National Intelligence,” she said in an interview with ExecutiveBiz.
One area where Parsons expanded its work in 2013 was in its efforts to protect internet infrastructure, including through a partnership with a non-profit group to deploy domain name system security extensions around the world.
Hopkins sees opportunity for Parsons to expand the global footprint of the firm, build on its current customer relationships, and add new customers given its positioning and its commitment to “helping the government solve some of their most complex problems,” she said.
Some success in 2013 came when Parsons added a new customer in the Labor Department with a contract to provide construction, renovation and facility survey work across the U.S. for the department’s Job Corps.
“We don’t stray from that model,” Hopkins said.
She added that Parsons wants “to expand overseas to locations of interest and strengths, not only for the federal government, but also within Parsons Corporation.”
“Parsons has long had a strong global presence. As a corporation, we are focused on the Middle East, North Africa, and the northern Mediterranean Sea border counties or MENA+ region – also AustralAsia and Latin America.”
The 23-year company veteran served as senior VP and business development manager for the installations and environment division prior to her EVP role.
Executive Mosaic extends its congratulations to Mary Ann Hopkins and the rest of the Parsons organization.
