Forbes Ranks Washington Second Best STEM, Tech Jobs City

Posted by Ross Wilkers Magazine on May 21, 2012 in News | 54 Views

A recent Forbes magazine study ranks the greater Washington area as the second best city for technology jobs in the nation.

Forbes conducted the study based on two-year and 10-year job growth numbers for science, technology, engineering and mathematics and tech jobs in the Washington area.

Washington’s technology-related jobs grew by 20.6 percent since 2011 and STEM-related employment saw growth of 20.8 percent.

According to the report, Washington had 2.9 and 2.2 times the national average of job growth in highly technical and STEM positions.

Forbes describes Washington’s tech economy as broad as it includes web fashion trends, computer systems design, custom programming and private-sector research and development.

Seattle is listed as number one on the list, followed by Washington, then San Diego and Salt Lake city as third and fourth, respectively.
