A Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services spokesperson says insurance marketplaces will meet the healthcare reform law’s open enrollment deadline on Oct. 1, FCW reported Monday.
Adam Mazmanian writes CMS has faced delays in security testing of a computer system intended to help the government verify an applicant’s coverage eligibility through an exchange.
Brian Cook, an agency spokesperson told FCW the agency is using its previous experience from the Medicare, Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance programs to help build the new insurance marketplace system.
CMS intends to have a data services hub serve as a one-source connection to those programs, Manzmanian reports.
The hub will also aim to connect government agencies, insurance providers and state-run exchanges, according to FCW.
