David Helfgott - Imarsat, ExecutiveMosaicExecutive Mosaic is honored to announce David Helfgott as the newest inductee into the Wash100, the premier group of leaders who drive innovation and execute strategic vision at the intersection of the public and private sectors.

Helffott holds more than 20 years of technology and service sector experience, and has helped lead a number of GovCon firms in top leadership positions.

Between 2001 and 2006, Helfgott supported Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom in his position as president and CEO of SES Americom Government Services, the SES Global, S.A. subsidiary and provider of FSS bandwidth and network solutions to the U.S. military and government agencies.

Helfgott then moved to the “other end of the value chain” to focus on equipment, communications gear, software and field engineering as the president and chief executive positions at DataPath Inc.

“Over three years, we built most of the Joint Network Node program, which is now a part of the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical program,” Helfgott told ExecutiveBiz.
“While we served similar programs and users, the experience provided me with the opportunity to learn a lot on the manufacturing and integration side of business.”

Helfgott would go on to serve as president within Cobham‘s wireless ISR technology unit and serve as president at Inmarsat Inc., the British satellite telecommunications firm’s U.S. subsidiary.

He would then join Inmarsat‘s government subsidiary in the same position and would hold responsibility for the overall strategy and direction of the mission-critical communications provider.

As he looks out over the GovCon market of the next few years, Helfgott says its important for companies to be aware of opportunities in adjacent markets, but to pursue them in a methodical way.
“The trick with adjacent markets is that you have to understand first and foremost what your core is,” Helfgott said. “You have to know where your strengths and differentiators are and how they match to the specific needs of your target markets.”
