robert haleExecutive Mosaic is honored to announce Robert Hale, Defense Department comptroller and CFO, as the newest inductee into the Wash 100, the premier group of leaders who create value for the American public and execute strategic vision at the intersection of the public and private sectors.

In his current roles, Hale serves as the principal advisor to Defense Secretary Hagel on the development and execution of the Pentagon’s more-than-$600 billion annual budget, and oversees DOD’s financial management systems, business modernization efforts and financial policy.

Hale held comptroller responsibilities earlier in his career as Assistant Secretary of the Air Force from 1994 to 2001 after spending 12 years leading quantitative analysis of major defense budget issues as head of the Congressional Budget Office’s national security division.

The former three-year active duty U.S. Navy officer and study director for the Center for Naval Analyses earned a graduate degree with honors from Stanford in mathematics and statistics and a graduate degree from the same institution in operations research.

Hale spent some time in the private sector as a senior fellow and head of LMI’s acquisition and grants management group and also earned an MBA from George Washington University.

Executive Mosaic extends its congratulations to and the rest of the Defense Department.
