Executive Mosaic is glad to announce Marillyn Hewson, chairman, president and CEO of Lockheed Martin, as the newest inductee into the Wash100 — a group of influential leaders in the government contracting industry.

Hewson, a 31-year veteran at Lockheed, took leadership of the aerospace and defense giant in January 2013 after a career in the company’s electronic systems, systems integration, aeronautics and logistics business areas and tenure corporate executive positions for supply chain management, shared services and internal audit.

In 2014, Lockheed made a series of acquisitions in the health information technology and cybersecurity arenas in an effort to complement the company’s existing portfolio.

Those moves included Lockheed’s purchase of health IT contractor Systems Made Simple, as well as the acquisitions of data exchange technology provider Zeta Associates and Industrial Defender, which makes cyber products for energy and chemical sector clients.

Hewson described the company’s technology strategy for the cyber arena and other areas such as space, the oceans and robotics in a wide-ranging speech for Lockheed’s annual media day in June 2014

“All of these emerging technologies and adapted innovations are some of the many ways that we are applying our full capability to address today’s most urgent and complex challenges,” Hewson said then.

Hewson, also vice chairman of the Aerospace Industries Association, was ranked fourth on Fortune magazine’s “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” and 24st in Forbes’ “World’s 100 Most Powerful Women” lists for 2014.

Executive Mosaic extends its congratulations to Marillyn Hewson and the Lockheed Martin team for their receipt of this award.
