Executive Mosaic is honored to unveil Robert McDonald, Department of Veterans Affairs secretary, as the newest inductee into the Wash100 — a group of influential leaders in the government contracting arena.

McDonald was confirmed by the Senate as the eighth VA secretary in July 2014 and has since worked to improve the delivery of healthcare products and services to military veterans.

In November, he proposed the creation of an internal customer service unit to monitor service delivery and the development of a regional framework to streamline the health system.

He also pushed for partnerships through the Community Veteran Advisory Council network and the adoption of shared services across VA.

“[We’re] looking at options used in the private sector to enhance our rapid delivery of services, and also at our own business processes that are suited for shared services,” he said.

McDonald’s private sector career includes four years as president and CEO of Procter & Gamble until his 2013 retirement from the company.

The U.S. Army veteran served with the 82nd Airborne Division and is a recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Robert McDonald and the VA team for their selection to receive this award.
