Executive Mosaic is honored to unveil Mercedes Westcott, vice president of Cloudera‘s public sector business, as the newest inductee into the Wash100 — a group of influential leaders in the government contracting arena.

Westcott has held her current role since September 2013 and is also a member of the federal advisory board at ThreatStream.

In a November 2014 interview with ExecutiveBiz, she described the shift of Cloudera’s government segment from an intelligence-focused business to one that includes programs for the Defense Department and the civilian and federal system integrator communities.

She also noted the potential for agencies to optimize IT infrastructure and leverage data for business by using Hadoop as a storage and analytics tool.

“Agencies and industry continue to adapt processing and implement ways of getting value from unconventional data stores,” she said.

“[They] have to be ready for the change that will accelerate with the emergence of the ‘Internet of Things.'”

Cloudera’s enterprise data hub is based on open source Hadoop.

Westcott previously worked at Delphix, Hewlett-Packard‘s enterprise security software business, ArcSight, Microsoft and Sybase.

Executive Mosaic extends its congratulations to Mercedes Westcott and the Cloudera team for their selection to receive this award.
