Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce Robert Work, deputy defense secretary, as the newest inductee into the Wash100 — a group of influential leaders in the government contracting arena.
Work received Senate confirmation to his current role in April 2014 and came from the Center for a New American Security, a Washington-based think tank where he served as CEO.
In a November 2014 interview with Defense News, he identified areas of commercial technology the military could be interested in and noted his belief of how collaborations between industry and government can help advance innovation.
“The focus of innovation is really in the commercial sector – biotechnology, nanotechnology, robotics, atomics,” he said.
Work previously held a fellowship and an executive position at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments and an adjunct professorship at George Washington University.
The former undersecretary of the U.S. Navy served as a U.S. Marine Corps officer for 27 years and was assigned to various command and management positions during his service.
He is a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies and a recipient of several military and civilian service awards.
Executive Mosaic congratulates Robert Work and the DoD team for their selection to receive this award.
