Executive Mosaic is honored to announce Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) as an inductee into the 2017 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of the most influential voices in the government contracting arena.

The former Virginia governor was first elected to the Senate in November 2008 and was re-elected for a second six-year term in 2014.

As senator, Warner has helped push forward a number of bills with 225 co-sponsored and 26 introduced during the 114th Congress.

He has also worked with Republican lawmakers in 15 of the bills and resolutions he introduced and half of the ones he cosponsored.

In 2016, he partnered with Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) to introduce a bill that seeks to consolidate agency reports to Congress in efforts to reduce redundancy and eliminate obsolete documentation.

He was also part of a group of lawmakers who proposed a bipartisan amendment to the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act that would elevate U.S. Cyber Command to a unified combatant command within the Defense Department in order to counter 21st-century cyber threats.

Warner’s other activities in the Senate include his endorsement of Beth Cobert as the full-time director of the Office of Personnel Management amid a delay in the confirmation process in 2016 and his inquiry into the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s cybersecurity, wireless communication and communications interoperability measures.

The senator also pushed for U.S. collaboration with other countries to address cybersecurity challenges in the financial services industry to mitigate potential risks to the global economy.

He is currently a member of the Senate’s committees on finance, budget, rules and administration as well as banking, housing and urban affairs, and is also part of the joint economic committee and select committee on intelligence.

He is a ranking member of the subcommittee on securities, insurance and investment and the subcommittee on fiscal responsibility and economic growth.

Warner is also a co-founder of Nextel and Capital Cellular.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Sen. Mark Warner and his staff for their selection to receive this award.
