Executive Mosaic is honored to announce Bill Varner, president and chief operating officer of ManTech International‘s mission, cyber and intelligence solutions group, as an inductee into the 2017 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of the most influential voices in the government contracting arena.

Varner has led MCIS for seven years as the group works to provide mission assurance, cybersecurity, systems engineering and technical services in support of government customers.

MCIS’ public sector clients include agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security, to which the group has provided network access management and cloud computing tools for DHS’ Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation program under two task orders worth up to $110 million combined.

“Controlling access to critical information and establishing a secure cloud environment is essential for protecting our federal agencies from insider and emerging threats,” Varner said.

The group also secured a potential $322 million contract from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in 2016 for technical services to support NGA’s information technology enterprise management and cybersecurity functions.

MCIS additionally added new work with U.S. Cyber Command through the acquisition of the cyber business of wireless technology and engineering services company Oceans Edge.

“This acquisition, along with our acquisition of [Knowledge Consulting Group]… expands our presence with customers who are critical to our nation’s future cyber operations and cyber defense,” he said.

Varner worked as vice president and executive director of the intelligence operations unit at TASC prior to his appointment at ManTech in 2009.

The Purdue University graduate received an alumni award from its school of electrical and computer engineering in 2016 for his contributions to the ECE field.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Bill Varner and ManTech for their selection to receive this award.
