Leanne Caret, CEO of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, Inducted Into 2018 Wash100 for Satellite and Space Exploration Leadership

Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce Leanne Caret, president and CEO of Boeing’s defense, space and security segment, as an inductee into the 2018 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in the government contracting arena — for her leadership in effectively spearheading the company’s space and satellite innovations.

Caret is a 29-year company veteran who became head of the BDS segment in 2016.

In a CNBC interview in September, she said the company considers satellite business and space exploration as “key” growth opportunities.

“I think there’s an excitement about space that we haven’t seen in the last few decades that’s really keeping the conversation going in a positive direction, and the technology is something that can be leveraged across a number of other platforms and weapons systems,” Caret added.

Calendar year 2017 also saw Boeing’s acquisition of Aurora Flight Sciences as part of the Chicago-based aerospace and defense contractor’s push to advance autonomous technology development efforts.

The company and Embraer also announced in December that they are in talks over a “possible combination.”

The U.S. Air Force also tapped Boeing to perform work on the Presidential Aircraft Recapitalization program.

The U.S. Air Force procured in August two Boeing 747-8 aircraft and a month later, awarded the company a potential $600 million contract modification to carry out preliminary design work to convert the two planes into presidential aircraft.

Boeing also backed several STEM efforts in 2017 including its sponsorship of a project of Wichita, Kansas-based nonprofit organization Doc’s Friends to build a B-29 hangar and education hub.

“This gift not only highlights the revolutionary advances in technology that were embodied in the B-29, but also recognizes the countless individuals who designed, built and flew this magnificent machine,” Caret said. “It’s our hope that visitors of every age will come away with a better understanding of history as well as a greater appreciation for the opportunities that lie ahead in aerospace and beyond.”

Executive Mosaic congratulates Leanne Caret and the Boeing Defense team for their selection to receive this award.
