John Vollmer, AECOM Mgmt Services Group President, Named to 2018 Wash100 for Logistics Management and Mission Support Leadership

Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce John Vollmer, president of the management services segment at AECOM, as an inductee into the 2018 edition of Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in the government contracting arena–for his leadership in logistics management and achievements in mission support.

In his current role, Vollmer oversees AECOM’s technical and management services work for federal agencies such as the departments of Defense and Energy and manages the operating activities of at least 17,000 employees across 70 countries.

In October 2017, AECOM announced plans to hire more than 1,000 employees to help the company’s management services business group support its federal government clients. Vollmer commented that the positions will primarily support the company’s work with the U.S. Army.

“Our greatest need is for individuals to support and lead our global expeditionary capabilities in maintenance and logistics, supporting our customers’ complex missions – from vehicle and aviation maintenance to supply chain management and range services,” he said.

In October 2017, the company’s URS Federal Services subsidiary completed the transition phase for a potential 16-year, $3.6 billion contract that covers range support services to the U.S. Air Force.

The three-time Wash100 recipient noted that the company aims to continue and build up its partnership with the Air Force through the delivery of mission-critical support.

“Following our deliberate investments over the past two years to position our management services business for growth, this contract supports our substantial backlog growth in fiscal 2017,” he said. “As a result of our expanded capabilities and focused business development efforts, we continue to pursue a sizable pipeline of pursuits, including larger projects and prime contracting roles.”

The 35-year industry veteran previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for AECOM’s management services segment. He joined AECOM in 2014 upon the company’s $4 billion acquisition of URS, where he served as EVP of operations for the federal services business.

Executive Mosaic congratulates John Vollmer and the AECOM team for their selection to receive this award.
