Jacobs Names Richard Sanderson General Manager for Europe and UK

Global technical professional services firm Jacobs has named Richard Sanderson as its new general manager for Europe and the United Kingdom, effective Sept. 29.

Sanderson is moving from his former post as sector head for transportation in Europe, according to a company statement Friday. It added that his most recent leadership role resulted in more robust client partnerships and achievement of the company’s main strategic goals, while also boosting sustainability and cross-sector collaborations.

Transport Industry Experience

With over 30 years of industry experience, including senior leadership roles at Halcrow, CH2M and Jacobs, Sanderson has focused on transport infrastructure projects spanning Europe, Australia, North America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

He has overseen operations and finance across the highways, rail and aviation sectors and also contributed expertise in engineering, consulting and program management for energy, water, environment and urban development.

Team Leadership Record

“Richard is a highly respected leader with deep industry knowledge and a proven track record of collaboration, building strong teams and lasting client relationships,” said Keith Lawson, Jacobs executive vice president. “His leadership style, strategic mindset and ability to inspire will be invaluable as we continue to grow and deliver impact across Europe and the U.K.”

Sanderson noted that he is privileged to lead a “talented team” in his new role.

Engineering Excellence

“We will continue to work with our clients, partners and the wider industry to bring together Jacobs’ hallmarks of engineering excellence, consulting insight, and program management experience to deliver sustainable, technology-enabled solutions across multiple sectors and markets,” he said.

In addition to his new position, Sanderson is a current board director at Ringway Jacobs providing highway management, maintenance and engineering services to U.K. clients, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He holds a bachelor’s dgree in geography from the University of Nottingham and a masters in urban and regional transport from Cardiff University.
