Safran Electronics & Defense has signed a new framework agreement with Rheinmetall Electronics to expand collaboration on defense technologies and streamline procurement and simplify logistics and administration processes.

The agreement, signed at DSEI 2025 in London, will see the two companies pool resources to offer advanced technologies, including atomic clock timeservers and navigation systems for environments without access to global navigation satellite systems. “This agreement reflects the trust between our teams and opens new possibilities for ambitious projects ahead,” said Marzell Schiller, CEO of Safran Electronics & Defense Germany.

Safran said the deal will also enhance logistics and administration, allowing both companies to focus on innovating and delivering high-value solutions to customers.

According to Christian Martens, CEO of Rheinmetall’s Business Unit Integrated Electronic Systems, the agreement allows both businesses to shape the industry’s future.

Safran said the partnership aligns with France and Germany’s commitment to building sovereign defense capabilities by contributing to developing “a more competitive and autonomous European defense sector.”

The expanded cooperation follows the two memorandums of understanding signed by Safran and Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. to better support European defense capability building.

Safran also recently completed its acquisition of Collins Aerospace’s flight control and actuation systems for military and commercial customers, which the company said improves its ability to provide services in support of defense technologies.
