Australia has awarded KBR a contract valued at up to $88 million over five years to sustain and enhance the Air and Space Operations–Command and Control System, a core capability that supports the Australian Defence Force in planning and conducting complex air missions.
The agreement consolidates existing sustainment work under one contract to streamline governance and delivery. A major component is the development of an electronic information management system to improve force integration, decision-making and mission data accuracy across air and space operations. The system will support joint operations for the Royal Australian Navy, Royal Australian Air Force and Australian Army, ensuring faster and more reliable mission-critical information in contested environments.
Secure and interoperable mission-critical IT systems will take center stage at the Potomac Officers Club’s 2025 GovCon International and Global Defense Summit on Oct. 16. Be part of the conversation and register today.
Col. Darren Moore, acting assistant secretary for joint C4 systems, said the award advances recommendations from the 2024 Defence Strategic Review. “This contract will enhance capability and reduce the complexity in delivering essential mission support products to the Australian Defence Force,” he noted.
KBR highlighted its two decades of work in C2 technologies. “KBR has … supported the development, delivery and evolution of critical data-centric technologies that provide commanders with real-time situational awareness,” said Nic Maan, head of KBR Australia Defence and Security Solutions. “Ensuring these capabilities are reliable and work cohesively together will enable faster, more informed decision-making.”
ASO-C2CS includes mission planning systems, air resource scheduling and the electronic flight bag — capabilities that enable more efficient planning and execution of air missions. KBR will also deploy field service representatives to operational units across Australia for training and support.
The award builds on KBR’s recent Australian defense work, including mission planning for the RAAF‘s MQ-4C Triton, a two-year extension for ADF ICT sustainment and continued support to the Joint C2 Systems Program Office.
