Leidos to Modernize Kazakhstan’s Air Traffic Control System With SkyLine-X Platform

Liz Porter, Leidos executive comment on the company contract to modernize Kazakhstan's air traffic control centers

Leidos has signed a contract with Kazakhstan’s air navigation service provider to modernize the Central Asian country’s air traffic control infrastructure using its SkyLine-X Air Traffic Management system.

The company said the project covers four air traffic control centers and 21 towers across Kazakhstan. Under the 19-year agreement, Leidos will replace existing hardware and install SkyLine-X to deliver end-to-end surveillance, enhanced safety features and more efficient operations through a modular, open and resilient automation platform.

Rapid Air Traffic Growth Expected

The modernization effort supports Kazakhstan’s plan to accommodate increasing air traffic demand. By 2030, annual passenger volume is expected to grow from about 15 million to 26 million, while the civil aircraft fleet is projected to more than double and 81 new international routes will be added.

Liz Porter, president of Leidos’ Health and Civil Sector, said the company values the trust built over more than two decades of partnership with Kazakhstani ANSP.

“The skies over Kazakhstan are key to international flight paths, and this upgrade helps support the country’s safe and reliable air traffic system and allows controllers to continue managing the airspace with increased confidence,” Porter said.
