Javelin Joint Venture, a Raytheon and Lockheed Martin partnership, has named Tata Advanced Systems its prime partner for future co-production of Javelin All Up Round, or AUR, missiles in India.
What Does the Javelin JV & Tata Advanced Systems Agreement Cover?
Lockheed said Sunday that under the memorandum of understanding, the companies will study setting up a final assembly and integration site in India for the Javelin AUR, along with component production capabilities. The agreement involves shipping Lockheed Martin’s subassembly kits made at its facility in Troy, Alabama, and guidance electronics units, produced at Raytheon’s Tucson, Arizona, facility, to India for final assembly and integration.
How Will the Partnership Impact India & the US?
The effort is expected to strengthen India’s defense industrial base by moving Javelin AUR work to Indian facilities, creating skilled jobs, building manufacturing know-how and reinforcing supply chain resiliency amid rising global demand.
In the U.S., the arrangement sustains domestic jobs through the continued production of sub-assembly kits and guidance electronics. Larger production volumes are also expected to help the government reach cost-saving order quantities.
Outside of the economic impact, the deal is expected to strengthen Indo-Pacific security through a steady, locally sourced supply of the Javelin system and faster fielding for partner nations in the region.
What Is Javelin Joint Venture?
Javelin Joint Venture is a partnership between Raytheon and Lockheed Martin that produces the Javelin anti-tank guided missile system. In 2025, the Army awarded JJV a potential $780 million foreign military sale contract to deliver 2,506 FGM-148F Javelin missiles and 253 Javelin Lightweight Command Launch Units to Poland. The joint venture also secured a follow-on production contract worth up to $900.5 million, adding Brazil and Tunisia as new customers alongside FMS for Estonia, Bulgaria and Australia.
