The United Arab Emirates Space Agency’s National Space Academy has partnered with EDGE Group to launch a specialized training program to equip Emirati professionals with advanced skills in satellite engineering and space mission systems.
The Space Mission and Satellite Engineering Program, developed in collaboration with EDGE subsidiaries FADA and BEACON RED, will provide hands-on technical training in a 10-week course scheduled to run from Sept. 16 to Nov. 20. It will take place at the UAE Space Agency headquarters in Abu Dhabi, BEACON RED’s training center and FADA’s facilities. The program includes in-person sessions, site visits and online learning from local and international industry experts.
Waleid Al Mesmari, EDGE Group’s president of space and cyber technologies, said the initiative reflects EDGE’s commitment to strengthening the UAE’s future space capabilities. “Together with the UAE Space Agency, we are building a robust foundation that integrates education, industry expertise and strategic foresight to empower Emirati professionals to shape and lead the future of our space endeavours,” he said.
Participants will complete five technical modules covering space mission design, applied systems engineering, space system verification and validation, mission operations and a capstone project simulating a real-world satellite program. The course is open exclusively to UAE nationals working in the space sector, researchers and fresh graduates. Applications will be accepted until Aug. 25.
The new program builds on a series of recent developments by EDGE Group aimed at advancing defense technologies. In June, EDGE signed a memorandum of understanding with French company Thales to support the localized production and maintenance of advanced electro-optic systems. It also recently agreed to co-develop anti-drone systems with the Brazilian Navy through a dedicated working group of experts.
