Lithuania and the United States have formed a partnership to implement a 20-year plan for developing the military facilities at the Pabradė Training Area, northeast of Vilnius.
The long-term effort calls for systematic infrastructure development that will integrate solutions for the future needs of Lithuanian, NATO and U.S. forces stationed at the site. The plan includes adding facilities for better living and service conditions in the training area.

According to National Defence Minister Dovilė Šakalienė, new housing, administrative, dining and storage facilities will be opened at Pabradė as early as autumn. All planned infrastructures are designed to offer the “best conditions to our allies so that they can feel at home in Lithuania,” she said.
The Ministry of National Defense noted that Vilnius has invested over $200 million in infrastructure for U.S. military personnel being deployed in the country on a rotating basis since 2019. An artillery unit has also been added to the U.S. battalion stationed in Lithuania to support defense and security in the Baltic region.
National Defence Vice Minister Karolis Aleksa conveyed in an April meeting with a visiting delegation of U.S. legislators Vilnius’ continued willingness to host U.S. forces stationed in the region to protect peace and stability.
