Global infrastructure firm AECOM has named seasoned defense sector executive Ed Robinson as head of its defense business in the United Kingdom, Europe and India. A British Army veteran, Robinson brings to the company over 30 years’ experience in the sector, including a track record in project management, crisis response and risk management, AECOM said Monday.

In his new role, Robinson will lead the company’s work with defense clients, including the U.K. Ministry of Defence, the U.S. Department of Defense and industry suppliers. He will also help expand AECOM’s defense business and strengthen collaboration across the company’s global defense partners.

Before joining Dallas-headquartered AECOM, Robinson oversaw Turner & Townsend’s defense business for nine years. At T&T, he helped grow its work with the British MoD and expand its footprint in Australia and North America.

Robinson served 23 years as a Royal Engineer officer in the British Army, taking on roles in the U.K., overseas and at the MoD. He commanded more than 1,200 service personnel on major engineering projects worldwide. At Whitehall, he advised London’s ministers on strategic planning and helped oversee multibillion-pound defense programs.

Richard Whitehead, chief executive of the Europe & India region at AECOM, conveyed confidence in Robinson’s capabilities, noting his understanding of the infrastructures and programs that complex military operations demand.

“As the U.K .and other European governments ramp up investment in defence and security, Ed’s leadership will be instrumental in helping us deliver the projects and programs that strengthen national security and support our armed forces now and into the future,” Whitehead said.
