General Dynamics Mission Systems has secured an $18.2 million contract to support the AUKUS trilateral security partnership by developing, maintaining and delivering the Common Weapon Launcher and Multi-Tube Weapon Simulator. The five-year agreement includes options that could bring the total contract value to $230 million.

Under the contract, Progeny Systems, a GDMS business, will lead efforts to develop and deliver new and modernized weapon launch and simulation capabilities, while providing in-service support for previously delivered systems. According to the Department of Defense, work will be performed in Manassas, Virginia; Charleroi, Pennsylvania; and Middletown, Rhode Island, with completion expected by August 2026.

Submarine Modernization

“Progeny Systems is a trusted provider of submarine combat system capabilities. We look forward to providing the United States and our Australian and United Kingdom partners with these critical submarine warfighting and training capabilities,” said Laura Hooks, vice president and general manager of Maritime and Strategic Systems at GDMS.

GDMS acquired Virginia-based Progeny Systems in 2022 to expand its submarine and surface ship support portfolio. Progeny said submarine modernization remains its core focus, aligning with its mission to enhance warfighters’ effectiveness, safety and defensive strategies.

The GDMS contract follows the expanded AUKUS partnership between Australia and the United Kingdom to co-develop SSN-AUKUS submarines, a collaboration that aims to bolster undersea capabilities amid rising security challenges in the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic regions.
