Zscaler, Bharti Airtel Launch AI & Cyber Threat Research Center in India

Zscaler CEO Jay Chaudhry. Zscaler and Bharti Airtel have launched the AI & Cyber Threat Research Center-India.

Cloud security company Zscaler and Bharti Airtel, a telecommunications service provider in India, have launched the AI & Cyber Threat Research Center-India, a multi-stakeholder initiative aimed at strengthening India’s cyber resilience and advancing artificial intelligence-driven security across critical sectors.

Register now to join the Potomac Officers Club’s 2026 Cyber Summit on May 21 and gain insight on evolving digital threats and chart the path toward stronger, zero trust-aligned federal defenses.

What Is the Research Center’s Mission?

Zscaler said Friday the New Delhi-based research center is structured around four priorities: delivering real-time threat intelligence, supporting government remediation efforts against cyberthreats, promoting AI-driven and zero trust security models, and developing cybersecurity talent through specialized certifications.

Building on its longstanding engagement in India, Zscaler is expanding its presence through the research center, transforming its operations into a national hub uniting private enterprise, government agencies and academic institutions.

Why Did Zscaler & Bharti Airtel Establish the Center Now?

The two companies launched the research center to help address evolving cybersecurity needs as India’s digital modernization across telecommunications, banking, energy and other critical sectors expands the nation’s attack surface. With AI-powered nation-state and financially motivated cyber attackers driving millions of monthly infiltration attempts, including espionage campaigns, 1.2 million intrusion attempts targeting 58 Indian entities and rising zero-day exploits, traditional perimeter defenses are no longer sufficient. A secure-by-design, modern security architecture is essential to safeguard critical systems and economic stability.

“With the AI & Cyber Threat Research Center – India, we will bring the full power of the world’s largest security cloud to protect the nation’s public and private sectors. By combining actionable intelligence from over 500 billion daily transactions with local expertise, we aren’t just building readiness; we are empowering a new generation of defenders to stay ahead of the adversary,” said Jay Chaudhry, CEO, chairman and founder of Zscaler.
