Datadog plans to establish a new data center presence in the United Kingdom as demand for cloud services grows across industries with strict data governance and security requirements.
The company said Monday the planned facility will expand its regional infrastructure and enable organizations to store operational data in the UK while using Datadog’s observability and security platform. The U.K. data center is expected to open later in 2026, adding to Datadog’s existing service locations in North America, Europe and Asia.
Why Is Datadog Expanding in the UK?
The planned data center is intended to support organizations operating in regulated sectors such as government, financial services, healthcare and higher education. Keeping operational data within the country could help organizations address evolving privacy and compliance requirements while also reducing latency for cloud-based applications.
Yanbing Li, chief product officer at Datadog, said the move reflects growing demand for infrastructure that allows companies to modernize their technology environments without moving data outside national borders.
“Where operational data is stored has become a practical constraint, not just a compliance question,” Li added. “This launch reflects our continued investment in building regional infrastructure to meet that reality.”
Cloud Adoption Accelerating Across Regulated Sectors
The company cited increasing cloud adoption across the U.K. as a factor behind the expansion.
In financial services, 82 percent of firms operate in multi-cloud or hybrid environments, according to an LSEG survey. Public sector digital technology spending in the U.K. exceeds $34.97 billion annually, with roughly 60 percent of government IT systems running on cloud infrastructure, based on figures from the British government.
Datadog said evolving regulations — including updates introduced under the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 — have increased attention on where operational data is stored and processed.
How Does the Expansion Fit Into Datadog’s Broader Regional Strategy?
The UK expansion follows other regional investments aimed at supporting organizations with strict compliance and security requirements.
In October 2025, Datadog’s services achieved Protected classification under the Australian Information Security Registered Assessors Program, enabling government agencies and regulated industries in Australia and New Zealand to use the company’s monitoring and security platform for sensitive workloads.
