- Rubloff will help develop Aperio’s Reality Engine platform
- He will guide 3D capture, reconstruction and visualization work and pursue compatibility with NVIDIA’s Omniverse and Isaac Sim
- Rubloff will continue running RadianceFields.com, the publication he founded
Aperio Global has named Michael Rubloff, founder of radiance field publication RadianceFields.com, as global lead for spatial computing and visualization to help steer development of its Reality Engine platform.
The Reston, Virginia-based company said Wednesday that Rubloff will take on the non-exclusive strategic post while continuing to run RadianceFields.com. Aperio describes Reality Engine as the spatial component of its Cognitive Layer Framework, built to turn digitally captured physical spaces into intelligence that teams can analyze, train with, run simulations on and use in operational decisions.
What Will Michael Rubloff Do at Aperio Global?
Working alongside Aperio’s product and engineering leaders, Rubloff will guide the company’s 3D reconstruction, spatial capture and visualization efforts, as well as how those capabilities are positioned in the market. His responsibilities include refining how Reality Engine captures and rebuilds environments, sharpening its visuals and viewing tools and helping set standards for how quickly, faithfully and efficiently the platform performs on hardware ranging from edge devices to data centers.
Rubloff will also work to make the platform compatible with NVIDIA’s Omniverse and Isaac Sim, among other simulation and robotics tools, as Aperio aims to extend Reality Engine to defense, national security and commercial users.
Earl Stafford Jr., Aperio’s founder and CEO and a one-time Wash100 Award winner, said, “Michael understands that the value of spatial computing is not simply producing a better three dimensional image. The value is creating a trusted spatial environment that people and machines can use to understand conditions, evaluate alternatives and make better decisions. His expertise strengthens our ability to deliver that capability for mission owners and commercial organizations.”
Who Is Michael Rubloff?
A radiance field specialist, Rubloff launched RadianceFields.com, which tracks 3D Gaussian Splatting, Neural Radiance Fields and other emerging spatial computing technologies, and remains its managing editor. His industry work includes writing technical material for NVIDIA, speaking on the chipmaker’s NVIDIA AI Podcast and presenting at conferences such as SIGGRAPH and NVIDIA GTC.
Dell has also named him a Dell Pro Precision Ambassador, and he supports The Khronos Group’s work to expand the use of advanced 3D technologies and help them work together. According to Aperio, he has already helped the company develop capture and reconstruction methods for intricate cultural, industrial and mission sites.
Discussing the appointment, Rubloff said, “The next chapter of spatial computing is not simply about visualizing the physical world. It is about turning captured reality into a usable and interoperable foundation for analysis, simulation and action for Physical AI. Aperio brings together the mission experience, technical architecture and partner ecosystem required to move these capabilities from compelling demonstrations into meaningful operational environments.”
