L3Harris Technologies has secured a $300 million contract to deliver two Gulfstream G550 aircraft equipped for electromagnetic warfare to Italy, marking a key international milestone for the U.S. defense industry.

In collaboration with BAE Systems, L3Harris will modify the jets to carry the EA-37B system, the first U.S.-developed capability approved for foreign military sale. The aircraft will provide airborne jamming capabilities, giving the Italian Air Force enhanced ability to disrupt enemy radar, communications and navigation systems from long range and high altitude.

The deal reflects growing international defense ties, as the U.S. expands access to advanced technology for trusted allies.

Defense leaders will gather at the Potomac Officers Club’s 2025 GovCon International Summit on Oct.16 to discuss global contracting opportunities, international defense trends and cross-border collaboration. Registration is now open.

“We are expanding our support of Italy’s armed forces by equipping them with modern mission technology ready for managing a dynamic global landscape,” said Jason Lambert, L3Harris president of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance.

According to the executive, the delivery will enhance Italy’s national security and improve interoperability with the U.S. and NATO partners.

The new aircraft will join Italy’s expanding fleet of special mission aircraft, complementing its Joint Airborne Multi-Mission Multi-Sensor System program. L3Harris is also modifying two additional Gulfstream jets under the JAMMS program to strengthen Italy’s intelligence and surveillance capabilities.

The contract underscores L3Harris’ expanding role in global security aviation. The company has delivered over 15,000 mission systems on more than 125 aircraft types and missionized business jets for allies, including Australia, Canada, Japan and South Korea.
