BAE Systems Virtual Trainer to Enhance Canadian Army Mission Planning, Training

BISim Pete Morrison Digital Virtual Trainer Canadian Army contract win

BAE Systems Inc. subsidiary Bohemia Interactive Simulations has secured a five-year enterprise license contract to deliver the Digital Virtual Trainer for the Canadian Department of National Defence. The contract provides the armed forces with an immersive, flexible and highly scalable synthetic training platform to ensure the Canadian Army’s combat readiness.

The DVT allows the Army to plan, rehearse, execute and review complex missions using immersive virtual environments. BAE Systems says that at the core of this training technology are BISim’s Virtual Battlespace 4 and Blue IG image generator, which deliver visual realism and seamless integration with existing systems. Additionally, DVT has TerraTools Platinum, an advanced terrain generation software that rapidly creates geo-specific, mission-tailored environments based on real-world data.

“Whether rehearsing for rural maneuvers or complex urban operations, the Canadian Army can train with confidence on highly authentic virtual terrains,” said Pete Morrison, BISim chief product officer.

The latest deal follows BISim’s recent contract with New Zealand to upgrade the training simulation technology for its armed forces using VBS4, enabling them to create and manage various military training scenarios.
