Andrew Stanniland will join MDA Space UK as managing director, effective Wednesday. He succeeds Anita Bernie, who left the role after over three years.
Stanniland announced his appointment in a LinkedIn post, calling it a “very exciting time for the company after their recent successes in the market” and saying he looks forward to meeting the U.K. and Canadian teams this month.
He brings more than three decades of international and multidisciplinary management experience in the space sector. Stanniland most recently served as CEO of Thales Alenia Space U.K. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles across the U.K. space and secure-communications sector, including head of service development at Astrium Services and business development director at Paradigm Secure Communications. He holds a degree in aerospace, aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Imperial College London and completed a summer program at the International Space University.
MDA Space CEO Mike Greenley said Stanniland’s “extensive experience and leadership will be key as we continue to expand our U.K. operations, build on our recent successes and deliver innovative solutions to our customers.”
