MBDA has renamed its Future Cruise/Anti-Ship Weapon program as STRATUS as it enters the development phase.

British Defence Procurement and Industry Minister Luke Pollard and Armament General Engineer Gael Diaz De Tuesta of France’s defence procurement agency DGA announced the rebranding at DSEI UK 2025 in London. They also introduced a new design for STRATUS LO (Low Observable), previously known as TP15, and a model for STRATUS RS (Rapid Strike), which was formerly referred to as RJ10.

The FC/ASW program aims to develop a next-generation European deep strike system. The initiative is a collaborative effort between London, Paris and Rome, involving over 750 MBDA technical experts. It focuses on creating two complementary, adaptable and interoperable missiles designed for anti-ship missions and suppression and destruction operations.

MBDA highlighted that the initiative builds on the company’s extensive experience supporting deep strike capabilities in the region, a commitment that began over two decades ago.

“Maturing such a large portfolio of technologies in such a short amount of time has required a massive effort between the nations and has again demonstrated the value of the MBDA cooperation model,” said MBDA CEO Eric Beranger. “MBDA will continue to deliver on the next phase, bringing together France, the UK and Italy to meet the armed forces’ needs and protect European citizens for the years to come.”

The rebranding follows a three-year, multimillion-dollar contract MBDA secured from the British defense ministry in late August to deliver six Land Ceptor air defense missile launchers. The systems will be integrated into the British Sky Sabre ground-based network to counter aircraft, cruise missiles and drones.
