BAE Systems to Supply Anti-Jamming GPS Guidance for Hanwha’s Deep Strike Rockets

Hanwha, BAE Systems partner on advanced missile guidance technology

BAE Systems will provide advanced anti-jamming Global Positioning System navigation technology for Hanwha Aerospace’s Deep Strike Capability precision-guided weapon family, the companies said Friday. The collaboration aims to boost the system’s operational reliability in heavily contested electronic warfare environments and meet NATO interoperability standards.

Under the agreement, BAE will integrate its military GPS and electronic-protection expertise into Hanwha’s multi-caliber, dual-launcher Deep Strike Capability system, which can field a range of guided rockets from a single platform. Hanwha said the upgraded guidance package will strengthen the system’s precision-strike performance and improve its appeal to European and other allied customers.

Billy Boo-hwan Lee, the head of Hanwha Aerospace’s PGM Business Group, said, “Based on a technological advantage to counter electronic warfare threats, we will strengthen our position in the global market.”

Luke Bishop, BAE’s director of navigation and sensor systems, said the partnership will also give operators “added versatility in the field” and provide military users with navigation solutions that continue to function in contested environments.

The deal comes as European partners double down on long-range strike capabilities. In 2024, six nations launched the European Long-Range Strike Approach to close gaps in conventional deep-strike capacity. Hanwha and BAE expect that trend to make compatible, hardened guidance attractive to allied procurement programs.

BAE has recently demonstrated other guidance and low-cost strike concepts. In July, the company tested an APKWS laser-guidance kit integrated on a SURVICE TRV-150 logistics drone as an example of low-cost precision options.
