Germany’s Bundeswehr has acquired an enterprise license to equip its dismounted personnel with SitaWare Edge, a command-and-control software developed by Danish defense technology company Systematic.
The software will be fielded in the “Portable” variant of the Bundeswehr’s Mission Enabling Service, or MESBw, which is designed to unify digital command at all levels. It will complement SitaWare Headquarters in the Command Post environment and SitaWare Frontline for vehicle-based systems, extending digital command and control to personnel on the ground.

Systematic said the acquisition also includes software development kits to support an open C4ISR ecosystem that allows third-party integrations.
“We are proud that the Bundeswehr continues to rely on Systematic as a trusted partner in their ongoing digital transformation. The introduction of SitaWare Edge is another important step, delivering our software capabilities to the very frontline,” said Sven Trusch, managing director of Systematic’s German subsidiary.
The SitaWare suite is currently used by more than 50 countries worldwide.
