How Will Red Hat Technologies Enhance UK MOD Operations?
According to Red Hat, the enterprise agreement enables MOD personnel to utilize Red Hat’s tools and services to develop and deploy applications across on-premise, in-cloud and hybrid environments.
Meanwhile, Red Hat AI accelerates the delivery of AI models across environments, while Ansible Automation Platform will reduce manual tasks and enhance the efficiency of IT operations.
Additionally, Red Hat OpenShift, powered by Kubernetes, will support modern application development through microservices architectures, DevSecOps practices and secure-by-design principles. OpenShift also offers a migration path from traditional virtual machines to containerized workloads and enables MOD teams to manage both environments side by side using Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization for greater operational flexibility and potential cost efficiencies.
“Red Hat is pleased to support the UK Ministry of Defence on its path to faster digital transformation and greater efficiency by helping to make the organization’s IT landscape more responsive and adaptable,” Joanna Hodgson, regional manager for the UK and Ireland at Red Hat, stated. “With Red Hat providing a centralized cloud-native platform and approach, all teams across the UK Ministry of Defence can develop and deliver new mission-driven digital services faster with a more consistent security footprint.”
How Does Red Hat Support Public Sector Organizations?
Red Hat has expanded its support for government entities globally. In November 2025, the company introduced Confirmed Sovereign Support for European Union member states to provide operational control and localized technical support.
At Red Hat Summit 2024, Uruguay’s Agency for Electronic Government announced the adoption of Red Hat OpenShift AI to standardize AI usage across government agencies.
