Shield AI Launches India Subsidiary, Opens Office in New Delhi

Ryan Tseng, president of Shield AI. Tseng commented about his company's presence in India

Shield AI is expanding its presence in India with the launch of a wholly owned subsidiary, Shield AI India, and the opening of a new office in New Delhi. The artificial intelligence company said Wednesday that it also plans to establish a second location in Bengaluru.

How Is Shield AI Supporting India’s Defense and Autonomy Goals?

Shield AI India will offer autonomy development, software integration and engineering services to the region. Through the subsidiary, Shield AI also aims to strengthen collaboration with the Indian Ministry of Defence and build AI capabilities in India.

“India is central to Shield AI’s global mission,” Ryan Tseng, president of Shield AI, stated. “The depth of engineering talent here combined with our existing strategic partnerships and the trust placed in us by the Indian Armed Forces make India one of the most important partners in our long-term plans. Shield AI India is our commitment to building lasting capability in the country — not just selling to it.”

Shield AI has previously provided the Indian Armed Forces with licenses to its autonomy software. In 2024, the company also teamed with JSW Defence to manufacture V-BAT drones in India, backed by a $90 million investment to establish a production facility in Hyderabad.

The V-BAT system provides intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities with extended endurance and lower logistical requirements. Integrated with Shield AI’s Hivemind software, the platform enables autonomous operations.

What Other Global Partnerships Is Shield AI Advancing?

Beyond India, Shield AI is expanding its international footprint through partnerships across Asia. In Taiwan, the company is working with the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology to integrate Hivemind into locally developed unmanned systems, supporting AI pilot development and multi-system coordination.

In Singapore, Shield AI has partnered with the Defence Science and Technology Agency and the Republic of Singapore Air Force to co-develop and deploy autonomy capabilities across drone applications.
