- Renato Krpoun will lead Axiom Space’s operations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa from the company’s new Swiss subsidiary

Axiom Space has appointed Renato Krpoun as chief of international operations for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, or EMEA, and as head of the company’s new Switzerland-based subsidiary.
What Role Will Krpoun Hold at Axiom Space?
The Houston-based human space exploration company said Tuesday Krpoun will spearhead operational activities in EMEA from Lucerne, Switzerland. His responsibilities include overseeing market engagement strategies, regulatory compliance efforts and relationships with governments, institutions and industry stakeholders.
In addition, he will serve as a senior liaison connecting Axiom Space with the European Space Agency, government customers and commercial partners.
Jonathan Cirtain, CEO and president of Axiom Space, said Krpoun will provide regional leadership as the company pursues international partnerships and expands access to low-Earth orbit opportunities for institutions and government organizations.
Axiom Space established Axiom Space Switzerland in June to strengthen collaboration with the ESA, its member nations and the region’s research and industrial sectors. The Lucerne-based subsidiary is intended to support long-term engagement with European governments, industry partners and academic institutions.
What Experience Does Krpoun Bring?
Krpoun brings more than 15 years of experience in space policy and business leadership. He most recently chaired the ESA Council at the delegate level and spent about 10 years as head of the Swiss Space Office within Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation, where he directed national and international space policy, strategy, legal affairs and investments in space research and development.
He also held engineering and project management roles at RUAG International, now Beyond Gravity, where he helped establish the company’s composites production facility in Decatur, Alabama, through a partnership with United Launch Alliance.
