IBM UK has acquired Logiq Consulting, a U.K.-based cybersecurity consultancy experienced in defense, critical national infrastructure and other heavily regulated sectors. IBM said Thursday the acquisition extends its cybersecurity transformation portfolio. Financial terms were not disclosed.
What Does Logiq Consulting Bring to IBM?
Assured by the National Cyber Security Centre, Logiq Consulting is known for helping U.K. public and defense sector organizations embed security throughout the technology lifecycle using Secure by Design approaches. It also provides cybersecurity assurance, digital modernization, security-focused systems engineering and secure managed services.
The company built and operates DISX, a managed, sovereign collaboration service that allows government suppliers to securely exchange sensitive information with the U.K. government and defense organizations while keeping control over where and how that information is managed.
Rhodri Arrowsmith, managing partner for IBM Consulting in the U.K. and Ireland, said Logiq’s specialized expertise complements IBM’s existing capabilities.
How Does the Acquisition Fit IBM’s Strategy?
Through the acquisition, IBM and Logiq Consulting will help U.K. clients secure critical data and technology environments, address changing security and regulatory demands, and deploy AI while maintaining appropriate safeguards.
The purchase also supports IBM’s broader push in hybrid cloud, AI and digital sovereignty, with the addition of capabilities that complement the digital transformation expertise of SiXworks, a defense consultancy company IBM acquired in 2024, in the defense and the public sectors.
Logiq CEO James Morgan said pairing the company’s defense and critical national infrastructure expertise with IBM’s global scale, AI and hybrid cloud capabilities will enable it to deliver greater value to customers.
What Other UK Defense Work Is IBM Pursuing?
In July, IBM joined KBR and Unipart to form Team ORION, which offers defense, logistics and digital services to the U.K. Ministry of Defence. IBM supplies digital, data and technology tools to the team. IBM UK also holds a $431 million contract for its AI-powered Defence Equipment Engineering Asset Management Systems, or DEEAMS, which gives British forces predictive intelligence and real-time, data-driven insights for enhanced planning and strategic decision-making.
