European Defence Agency Opens Registration for UAS Safe Integration Projects

The European Defence Agency is inviting interested parties to register and participate in four projects to ensure the safe integration of unmanned aircraft systems into European airspace.

For the first project, the EDA intends to award up to $1.63 million to develop and demonstrate small and tactical UAS units with sensors powered by artificial intelligence in environments with limited or denied access to navigation signals and potential electronic jamming threats.

The second one, with a budget of over $435,000, will focus on updating an online tool supporting the risk assessment methodology developed under the MIL-UAS-SPECIFIC project. The tool will be expanded to serve as a networking or connecting tool that will automate most risk assessment processes for UAS operations.

Two other projects will be a higher airspace operations study and consultancy services that will help identify the needs of military UAS users and evaluate technologies that can enhance UAS integration.

Registration is open until June 28. An online information session will take place on July 4.
