SRC’s Counter-Drone Technology Gains Foothold Under $1B Qatar FMS

SRC C-UAS tech for Qatar FMS

Nonprofit defense research and development firm SRC ie set to mark the first international sale of its counter-unmanned aircraft technologies through the $1 billion foreign military sale approved by Washington for Qatar. Under the FMS, the Syracuse, New York-based company will supply its detection technologies to the Fixed Site-LIDS, which is part of the U.S. Army’s anti-drone systems.

In addition to SRC, the main contractors for the FMS include Raytheon Technologies and Northrop Grumman.

The Potomac Officers Club’s 2025 GovCon International Summit on Oct. 16 will unite visionary leaders from government and industry to explore how international partnerships, coalition warfare and cutting-edge technologies are transforming the defense arena. Reserve your seat today.

SRC Detection Technologies

According to SRC’s website, its technologies facilitate layered defense at fixed locations and offer real-time situational awareness and threat response. The components of these technologies include radar and direction-finding cameras tailored for electronic warfare, capable of detecting, tracking, identifying and defeating micro, mini, small, or tactical unmanned aircraft systems.

Kevin Hair, SRC president and CEO, highlighted the “operational relevance” of these technologies and expressed pride in their international deployment. “In today’s rapidly evolving threat landscape, advanced sensing and electronic warfare capabilities are essential,” he said.

Flexible C-UAS Design

LIDS, short for Low, Slow, Small UAS Integrated Defeat System, is designed as a modular tool that can be deployed in either a fixed or mobile configuration, facilitating rapid detection and engagement of UAS. Its design provides flexibility for a wide range of missions and allows for quick integration of new sensors and effectors to address evolving threats.

In November 2022, the U.S. Department of State approved Qatar’s request for 10 LIDS units and 200 Coyote Block 2 interceptors.
