Melissa Osborne as Capgemini defense VP in Australia

Capgemini has appointed Melissa Osborne as vice president of Defence & Defence Industry in Australia, the Canberra-based executive shared in a LinkedIn post on Saturday.

Osborne joins the company from GuardWave, where she recently served as a nonexecutive director. GuardWave Australia offers an information risk management suite that helps clients facilitate how they secure, track and organize their data assets.

National Security, Intelligence and Defense 

Before her time at GuardWave, Osborne spent four years at Amazon Web Services as head of national security in Australia. Additionally, she was the chief technology officer at Dell Technologies for Australia and New Zealand from 2018 to 2020.

With over two decades of experience in the public sector, she has held various roles in national security, intelligence and defense across several organizations, including the Australian Cyber Security Centre, the Australian Department of Defence and the Royal Australian Navy.

Women in STEM

According to a profile posted by the Australian Technologies Competition program, Osborne is a strong advocate for increasing the representation of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. She is also actively involved in initiatives aimed at recognizing and including individuals from Australia’s First Nations.

Osborne served as a judge on ATC, an awards program that selects eligible applicants with global growth potential in various sectors and applications.
