EDGE Group, an Emirati technology and defense company, has teamed up with EM&E Group, a Spanish provider of defense and security systems, to form a joint venture in the United Arab Emirates.

The companies recently signed an agreement to jointly develop defense technologies for the UAE and international markets, EDGE said Wednesday. EM&E Group is also expected to bring its advanced remote weapon station technologies to the UAE under the agreement.

What Will the EDGE-EM&E JV Offer?

Through the JV, the companies intend to develop and adapt new technologies for the Middle East. The JV will tap into EM&E’s engineering expertise with EDGE’s defense ecosystem to deliver new capabilities to customers in high-demand markets.

“By combining our remote weapon station technology with EDGE’s industrial ecosystem, we are not only strengthening our export capabilities but also becoming key partners in the development of disruptive defense solutions,” Fernando Fernandez, CEO of EM&E, stated.

“European defence expertise combined with EDGE’s broad range of air, land and maritime platforms creates significant competitive advantage for our customers,” added Hamad Al Marar, managing director and CEO of EDGE.

Which Other Companies Has EDGE Recently Partnered With?

The EM&E agreement follows a series of international partnerships by EDGE in 2026. In January, EDGE and Indra Group agreed to establish a defense manufacturing entity in Spain focused on loitering munitions and smart weapons for European programs. EDGE also partnered with Qatar’s Barzan Holdings to co-develop advanced defense technologies and signed a memorandum of understanding with Safran to explore next-generation smart weapons development.
