Nine construction companies based in Japan have taken positions on a multiple-award contract covering work at U.S. installations in the Okinawa region. The combined ceiling reaches $1 billion, according to a Department of War contract announcement on Thursday.
Only a fraction of that is committed so far. Kraftia-Yabu JV will hold the seed project at roughly $54.97 million, and the eight other awardees will receive a minimum contract guarantee of $6,647 each. That brings obligations at award to over $55 million, drawn from fiscal 2026 Marine Corps operations and maintenance funding that expires at the end of the current fiscal year.
What Does the Okinawa Construction Contract Cover?
Task orders will cover project design, construction, renovation, modernization, repair and maintenance. The firm-fixed-price vehicle accommodates both design-build and design-bid-build delivery.
The base period runs five years with a single three-year option. Completion is expected by July 2034.
Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Far East in Yokosuka handled the procurement, which drew 14 offers through SAM.gov.
