Poland has launched its first signal intelligence ship from Saab, an event that Saab President and CEO Micael Johansson said marks a significant milestone in regional cooperation.
“This project exemplifies how nations around the Baltic Sea, with similar needs and experiences, can come together to develop solutions that benefit us all,” Johansson said.
Acquired under the DELFIN program, ORP Jerzy Rozycki, named after the Polish mathematician and cryptologist, is the first of two vessels that will enhance the Polish warfighters’ SIGNIT requirements.

The launch, which took place in Gdańsk on Tuesday, comes two years after the SIGNIT vessel completed its first steel cut and keel laying.
“[ORP Jerzy Rozycki] demonstrates the type of advanced technology and capabilities that will be imperative for Europe to stand strong against emerging threats and ensure the safety of our people and societies,” Johansson said.
The Saab chief attended the launching ceremony alongside representatives from the Polish Ministry of National Defence, the Polish Headquarters of Marine Technology and the Chief of Reconnaissance and Intelligence Analysis Directorate.
