Dell Technologies Issues Recommendations for EU AI Action Plan

Vivek Mohindra on Dell blueprint for Europe AI action plan

Dell Technologies has released a strategic blueprint with recommendations for the European Union to prepare the deployment of an artificial intelligence action plan.

The document, titled “Dell Technologies Blueprint for Making Europe an AI Continent,” outlines suggestions to establish Europe as a leader in the responsible rollout of AI-enabled solutions.

“This is a defining moment,” said Vivek Mohindra, senior vice president and chief strategy officer at Dell Technologies. “Europe has the opportunity to lead not only in responsible AI regulation, but in world-class AI innovation. Our blueprint offers a practical road map to get there — together.”

The blueprint focuses on six key pillars: energy resilience, cybersecurity and workforce development, among others.

Dell says that, with cyberattacks increasingly targeting AI systems, it is essential to implement policies that prevent bad actors from gaining access. The company proposes incorporating cybersecurity considerations into every stage of AI development, mandating the adoption of zero trust frameworks and establishing a unified AI security framework across the region.

Dell also stresses the importance of aligning with the European Union for Skills plan, which ensures individuals can continuously update their skills and attract, develop and retain top talent in the region. The company urges member states to integrate AI curricula into primary and secondary education to spark interest among younger generations.

Given the substantial energy requirements of AI-powered applications, Dell emphasizes the need for grid modernization and related initiatives to support ongoing AI development. In addition to upgrading existing energy infrastructure, the company recommends creating a dedicated funding stream for AI-related energy projects and prioritizing the construction of energy-efficient data centers.

Dell expresses its willingness to collaborate with the EU, including policymakers, academics and industry partners, to foster an ecosystem that supports European leadership in AI.
