Norway Orders OSL Anti-Drone Platform Under 4-Year, $91M Procurement Pact

Gro Jære on OSL C-UAS contract win

Operational Solutions Ltd will supply Norway’s armed forces with anti-drone systems under a four-year framework agreement with the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency. The contract value is up to $91 million.

The contract’s first order will provide counter-unmanned aerial systems to the Ørland Air Station of the Royal Norwegian Air Force, OSL announced Friday. The Reading, England-based aerospace and defense company said the agreement has a contract option for a three-year extension.

OSL’s anti-drone platform will be combined with Ørland’s other command and control systems, as well as with civilian aviation counterparts. The C-UAS provides a software variant that will enable the replacement of the Ørland base’s current bird radar, nearing its service life expiry.

More Rapid Future Procurement

According to Gro Jære, NDMA director, the OSL agreement ensures that Norway’s armed forces can easily and rapidly procure more C-UAS platforms. “OSL has delivered similar systems to other customers and demonstrated the ability to deliver on time, within budget and to the required performance,” she said.

OSL founder and CEO Mark Legh-Smith conveyed the company’s pride in being selected for Norway’s C-UAS project. “The procurement team carried out a thorough and efficient competition, and we expect this high pace to continue toward the first installation,” he said.

NDMA issued a tender for the C-UAS procurement in November, specifying systems for protecting stationary objects, installations and air bases, Unmanned Airspace reported.
