GE Aerospace has signed a memorandum of understanding with Poland’s Military University of Technology to explore a potential partnership on maintenance training programs for Boeing’s F-15EX fighter jet’s F110-GE-129 engine.

GE Aerospace said Tuesday that the MOU seeks to expand the company’s earlier collaboration with the university on workforce training under an offset deal involving GE Aerospace’s T700 engine for the AH-64E Apache helicopter. It is extending the training support as part of Poland’s acquisition of 96 Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian helicopters.

GE Aerospace noted that it could provide the university with the course material to help it develop a curriculum for technicians and military personnel who will support Poland’s future fighter aircraft.

The European consortium-made Eurofighter Typhoon and Boeing’s F-15EX Eagle II are the “only two options” for the air superiority Poland seeks over Russian warplanes, according to Tomasz Smura, director of the Casimir Pulaski Foundation’s research office, in an interview with Defense News.

Scott Keating, GE Aerospace regional vice president and general manager of sales, business development Europe, added, “As Poland determines its next-generation fighter jets and their engines, GE Aerospace wants to be ready to help train the technicians and military personnel on our advanced F110 engines that power Boeing’s F-15EX fighter jet.”

According to the company, workforce training finalized under the MOU could eventually create laboratories and centers to support specialized training for personnel in the maintenance and repair of the F110 engines.
