QinetiQ Australia has opened a new office in Melbourne as part of a multimillion-dollar investment aimed at expanding its support for Australia’s defense, national security and advanced technology sectors.
QinetiQ said Friday Assistant Minister for Defence Peter Khalil and Sen. Raff Ciccone formally opened the facility, which is intended to strengthen collaboration with government and industry partners while supporting highly skilled jobs in Victoria.
What Capabilities Will the Melbourne Office Support?
The new site will support research, engineering and program delivery activities for defense and security missions. The facility includes secure workspaces and collaborative environments designed to support advanced capability development for government customers and industry partners.
Why Is QinetiQ Australia Expanding in Victoria?
Corry Neale, chief executive of the Australia Sector, said the new office represents a significant investment in the company’s workforce and operational capabilities. The Melbourne location expands QinetiQ Australia’s presence in Victoria and supports closer collaboration with the Australian Defence Force and the broader national security community.
“It strengthens our ability to deliver innovative, mission-critical solutions for our customers while deepening our partnerships across government, industry and academia,” Neale said.
She added that Victoria remains a key hub for advanced technology and defense innovation, offering access to highly skilled talent and strategic partnership opportunities.
How Does the Melbourne Office Support QinetiQ Australia’s Growth?
The Melbourne office opening follows QinetiQ Australia’s broader expansion in the country’s defense and national security sectors. Earlier this year, the company partnered with Muru Management Consulting on a $30 million contract to support Australia’s Defence Aviation Safety Authority through aviation safety policy, standards and training programs. QinetiQ also worked with Australia’s Defence Science and Technology Group to demonstrate a high-power laser optical chain prototype designed for counter-drone defense systems.
