“This contract award reflects our deep expertise in nuclear operations and environmental remediation and our commitment to delivering safe, reliable and innovative solutions that serve the best interests of Canada,” said Mark Whitney, president of energy and environment at Amentum.
Under the award, NLPC will help CNL with its nuclear decommissioning and waste management mission. It will also support the revitalization of Ontario’s Chalk River, a body of water near Chalk River Laboratories, one of the nation’s largest science and technology complexes.
The deal will see the JV companies extend their expertise to support the laboratories’ mission. Amentum intends to lend its comprehensive nuclear operational solutions, research and development, and technical know-how.
According to BWXT, CNL is Canada’s top nuclear science and technology organization and a “world leader in developing nuclear technology for peaceful and innovative applications.”
The contract has a six-year base period, and depending on the JV’s performance, it could last up to 20 years.
