Cubic Secures $130M UK Contract for Army Training Simulator

The U.K. Ministry of Defence has awarded Cubic Defence UK a two-year contract to deliver an Instrumented Live Training Area weapons effect system.

The ILT-A contract builds on Cubic’s 20 years of experience providing integrated training platforms for the ministry and follows a previous agreement for the Area Weapons Effects Simulation.

An MoD notice in April valued the ILT-A contract at approximately $39.6 million, with an option for an additional three years, bringing the potential total value to $130 million.

Force Development

According to defense officials, the ILT-A will provide a data-rich training environment that would improve the lethality and competence of British soldiers.

The contract also includes options for supporting MoD and global allies in both collective and individual training across various areas and domains. Additionally, a life-extension program within the contract allows for investment in experimentation to aid the MoD’s force development efforts.

Modern Combat Training

Alicia Combs, vice president and general manager at Cubic Defense in Orlando, Florida, expressed pride in MoD’s continuing trust in Cubic’s systems to train U.K. warfighters in complex, modern combat scenarios.

“With ILT-A, we are proud to deliver a high-fidelity, globally interoperable solution that supports the British Army’s evolving training needs,” she said.

In addition to the ILT-A and AWES contracts, Cubic secured a two-year MoD award in February 2024 to provide its Light Gun Simulation System for training at the Royal School of Artillery in Larkhill, Wiltshire.
