CAE Names Former Northrop Grumman Exec as President, CEO

Matthew Bromberg as president and CEO of CAE

CAE has appointed Matthew Bromberg as its next president and CEO, effective Aug. 13. The executive, who is expected to join the company on June 16, will work alongside outgoing chief Marc Parent during a transitional period ahead of the firm’s annual shareholder meeting. The company said Bromberg will also be nominated for election to the board of directors.

In a statement, Bromberg said it is an exciting time for CAE, citing growth opportunities across civil aviation and defense. “With the support of its dedicated team, I look forward to building on that leadership, advancing innovation, operational excellence and creating long-term value for its stakeholders in Quebec, Canada and around the world,” he said.

The new appointment coincides with the relocation of CAE’s corporate headquarters from Saint-Laurent to Montreal. “I am also excited to relocate to CAE’s global headquarters in Montreal in the coming weeks and contribute to its vibrant business community,” Bromberg said.

Bromberg most recently served as corporate vice president of global operations at Northrop Grumman, where he led supply chain and operational transformation efforts. Other previous roles include president of military engines at Pratt & Whitney, and VP of corporate strategy at United Technologies. A former U.S. Navy submarine officer, Bromberg began his civilian career as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs and later helped lead several major mergers and acquisitions.

In other developments, CAE has announced the appointments of Calin Rovinescu as executive chairman of the board and Sophie Brochu as lead independent director. Brochu, who previously served as president and CEO of Hydro-Québec, will lead executive sessions of independent directors.

Meanwhile, Rovinescu, who joined the board in February, will work with Bromberg on strategic initiatives. He said the board conducted a rigorous global search for its new leader and expressed confidence in Bromberg’s ability to lead CAE forward.
