Kongsberg Maritime has opened two new offices in Jakarta and Batam in Indonesia to better serve its commercial and governmental maritime clients. The announcement was made at the Inamarine Expo in Jakarta, attended by Norwegian Ambassador Rut Krüger Giverin.
Patrick Banks, Kongsberg Maritime’s vice president of aftermarket sales for the Asia-Pacific region, said Jakarta and Batam are central to Indonesia’s growing maritime industry, highlighting Jakarta’s role in shipping and trade and Batam’s concentration of shipbuilding and repair activity.
“Establishing a presence in both cities allows us to be closer to our customers, respond more quickly to their needs and support the full life cycle of their Kongsberg Maritime products,” Banks said in a statement.
Building Critical Infrastructure
The expansion is part of Kongsberg’s broader global initiative to enhance its facilities and operational footprint.
Earlier this month, the defense company launched a new maritime test bed in Horten, Norway, to enhance protective solutions for critical maritime infrastructure. In April, it signed a contract to build a new facility to handle the maintenance and future upgrades of the Norwegian F-35 fleet.
Kongsberg is also set to open a new U.S. missile production facility in Virginia to expand its missile manufacturing capacity.
