Paul Checketts will take on the investor relations director role at BAE Systems in early 2025.

In a LinkedIn post on Monday, BAE Systems said the executive will bring over two decades of financial experience to the company. Checketts has been Serco’s investor relations head since April 2020. Before joining Serco, he spent over nine years as a director at Barclays Capital.

BAE announced the appointment after Martin Cooper, its former investor relations director, moved to QinetiQ to replace Carol Borg as group chief financial officer.

Checketts will join BAE as the company works to complete $1.34 million worth of new shipbuilding facilities to support the development of nuclear-powered submarines for Australia under the country’s security partnership with the United Kingdom and the United States.

According to a Reuters report, BAE won a $5.1 billion contract in October 2023 to begin the submarine design work in the U.K. and partnered with Australian naval firm ASC to build the vessels starting in the late 2020s.
